Are there untimed brain games for adults?
Yes: Cognilo's daily brain games are untimed by default, so accuracy, not speed, decides how you did. A clock is something you add (Sprint) rather than something you fight. We make Cognilo, and we built it this way because so many adults told us timers turned a puzzle into a test. Updated November 2026.
Who untimed brain games are not for
Speed chasers
If the thrill is beating a buzzer, a reaction or arcade-style trainer will feel livelier. Cognilo's Sprint helps, but it's not the main event.
Diagnosis seekers
Ratings describe how you play Cognilo puzzles. They are not a measure of intelligence or health.
One-puzzle fans
If you want one long sudoku or crossword, a dedicated puzzle app fits better than five short rounds.
What your quiz result means in the app
- PrecisionUntimed. Accuracy decides the rating. The default.
- ZenUntimed and unrated: play without any score moving.
- SprintTimed, for days you want a push. Always your choice.
Each puzzle is set to your current level and shows a plain-language reason why it was picked today. Say a round felt too easy or too hard and the next one responds.
Proof: untimed, on the screen

Honest limits
A few things still involve time. Quick Signal is a recreational reaction round. Pro's Pressure Response test deliberately compares untimed and timed play. And days with the Market Run shopping scenario take a little longer. Everything else waits for you.
One design decision we made: Cognilo's Rhythm counts days per week rather than an unbroken streak, so there's no clock on your habit either.
Timed vs untimed brain games, side by side
Typical timed game
Score falls if you pause to think. Speed and accuracy blur together. Good for adrenaline.
Cognilo, untimed
Accuracy decides the rating. Pause any time. A strategy tip and a replay of anything that slipped.
Take the time; the puzzle will wait.

Untimed brain game questions
Are there brain games for adults with no timer?
Yes. Cognilo is untimed by default: its Precision mode has no clock and accuracy decides the rating. Sprint adds a timer only if you choose it, and Zen is unrated.
Is Cognilo free?
The free tier is complete: the Daily 5, all six skills, ratings, the Benchmark and achievements. Cognilo Pro (on the App Store at $9.99 a month or $44.99 a year) adds two Performance Lab tests, weekly and monthly reports and longer rating history.
Does untimed mean easier?
No. Rounds are set to your current level either way. Untimed means you can think a step through instead of guessing to beat a bar.
Can I pause in the middle of a puzzle?
Yes. You can swap, pause or stop a game whenever you like.
Will my ratings drop if I play slowly?
In untimed Precision, accuracy decides the rating, not speed. Zen rounds are not rated at all.
